If you’ve got hot dogs and ground beef, you can make this easy Keto Chili Dog Soup in just minutes! A guaranteed crowd pleaser, this is an easy keto dinner recipe the whole family can enjoy!

So let’s talk about this Keto Chili Dog Soup recipe! Hopefully you don’t think it sounds weird – it kind of felt like a no-brainer when I was making it! Then I tasted it and I knew it was going to be a winner!
It’s super easy (which you know I love) and the flavors are fantastic! I recommend using a good quality hot dog, preferably with a natural casing so you get that snap when you bite into them – perfection!
I spent a large part of my childhood in New Britain, CT and there is a famous hot dog joint there called Capital Lunch. Have any of you heard of it? They make the best chili dogs EVAH, and have been featured in numerous magazines and foodie television shows because of it.
When I was growing up we lived within walking distance of Capital Lunch and I remember heading over there often because you could get two amazing chili dogs, a can of soda, and a bag of chips for around $1.50 – crazy cheap and oh so satisfying!
They get their hot dogs from right around the block at Martin Rosol’s, which makes natural casing hot dogs, red hots, and some of the best kielbasa around. I used to love it when my mom would come home with that white cardboard box tied with twine because I knew what awesome deliciousness waited inside. No summer picnic was without them!

Anyway, this keto chili dog soup is an ode to my childhood and the Capital Lunch chili dogs – though I’m not claiming in any way that the chili flavor in this soup is as good as theirs. That would be blasphemy!
My personal favorite way to eat a chili dog is with mustard, raw onions, and good quality sauerkraut, so that’s what I topped my Keto Chili Dog Soup with. I also added cilantro and avocados because I had some and I like them on my chili – it definitely worked for me on this low carb chili dog soup as well.
The beauty of this Keto Chili Dog Soup is that it makes the perfect base for whatever your favorite chili dog toppings are! Love cheese on yours? Throw some on there! You can prep a variety of toppings for your family or friends and let them all customize their bowls.

In fact this low carb chili dog soup would be a great Superbowl party recipe – you can make a huge batch and throw it in the crockpot, then prep a bunch of toppings and let people have at it! I guarantee it will be a huge hit!

When my daughter was little, she named my similar recipe “chili puppies” because a chili dog was the hot dog not cut up!!

I made this using geound chicken instead of ground beef. The chili was very watery. I used the crock pot cooking it on high for three minutes. But i also left the lid on. So not sure if that made a difference. Any ideas?
Mellissa Sevigny says
You can cook it down uncovered to thicken it to your preference, but it is a chili dog “soup” so won’t be quite as thick as a true chili as written. Also ground chicken will behave differently than beef and has less fat so will give it a thinner consistency and mouthfeel than with beef!
